The M60 was shut for hours this morning after a man was hit by a lorry.
The motorway was shut off on the clockwise carriageway just after junction 13 for Worsley, according to traffic alert service Inrix. It was shut to junction 15, National Highways has said, following the crash just after 6am.
A GMP spokesperson said earlier this morning: "We were called at 6.20am to a report of a collision between a man and a lorry on the M60 clockwise near junction 13.

"Emergency services are currently responding and this section of the clockwise side has been closed while this continues. Delays are expected for much of the morning."
Drivers were hit by huge delays this morning, with miles of queues.
North West Motorway Police tweeted: "We have come into a Serious Incident on the M60. It is CLOSED between J13 and J14 Clockwise All traffic is being taken off at J13, the diversion is onto the A580 and you can then rejoin at J14 If possible, avoid the area."
National Highways tweeted: "The #M60 clockwise is closed between J13-J15 near #Worsley following a serious vehicle collision. @gmpolice
"@NWmwaypolice are at the location along with #TrafficOfficers who are assisting with traffic management. Please continue to follow for diversion details."
The motorway reopened just after 11am, with delays still in the area.
Man suffered 'life changing injuries' after being hit by lorry
We've just had an updated statement from police. They say a 57-year-old man suffered life-changing injuries after he got out of his car on the M60 and was hit by a lorry. Officers are now appealing for witnesses.
A GMP spokesperson said:
We’re investigating a serious collision on the M60 earlier today that has left a man with life-changing injuries and caused significant travel disruption this morning.
At around 6.20am we were called to the first of a number of reports of a lorry colliding with a man on the first lane of the M60 clockwise at around junction 13.
The man – aged 57 – is understood to have got out of his car on the side of the motorway in the moments before the collision.
He was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries and is in a serious condition as he continues to receive treatment.
The driver of the lorry remained at the scene and is assisting our Serious Collision Investigation Unit with their investigation.
Congestion remains on both sides of the carriageway
Congestions remains on both sides of the carriageway this morning.
On the clockwise side, two lanes remain shut and congestion is back to junction nine for Trafford Park.
On the anticlockwise carriageway, long delays remain due to onlookers with queues back to junction 17 for Prestwich.
Accident investigation work ongoing at the scene
According to traffic alert service Inrix, accident investigation work is ongoing at the scene on the clockwise carriageway.
Congestion is back to junction eight for Carrington.
Diversion route from Highways England
Road users are advised to follow the Solid Diamond diversion symbol on road signs:
- Exit at M60 at J13.
- Take the A575 north to the junction with the A580.
- Turn right on to the A580 eastbound and follow the link road on to the M60 at J14.
- Merge back on to the M60 at J15.
