Operations ongoing "every single day" to tackle organised crime
Assistant Chief Constable Chris Green told the ECHO operations like today's take months of planning and are not simply in retaliation to the horrific incidents that have taken place across Merseyside in the last week.
He said: "Organised crime crosses boundaries both locally , nationally and internationally. Our response to organised crime across Merseyside is very strong
"I know there is activity in Liverpool this morning, I know there is activity elsewhere, specifically linked to this investigation. Those involved live in different places across Merseyside so its really important.
He added: "This is one of several operations we run constantly and consistently. This has been 12 months in the making and there are numerous operations every single day ongoing to tackle all of the different threats we have from serious and organised crime.

One firearm discharge is "too many"
Assistant Chief Constable Chris Green said there has been "significant reductions" in the amount of firearm crime across Merseyside in the last five years, but one firearm discharge is "too many".
He vowed police will "continue to be relentless" in their pursuit or anyone involved in organised crime.
Today's raids "a culmination" of 12 months work
Wirral Chief Inspector Tom Welch told the ECHO today's raids are "a culmination" of 12-months work.
He said people in the Wirral are "worried" after an incredibly troubling week for Merseyside but police hope today shows the force "will not tolerate gangs and organised crime on our streets".
