Professor Sun-Woo Choi (Multifunctional Nanomaterial Lab) Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at Kangwon National University is looking for 1 combined MS-PhD student interested in doing research on: Synthesis of low-dimensional nanomaterials, chemical sensors (gas and biosensors), development of hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces.

Research field
• Metal oxide-based chemical sensors with humidity tolerance
• Hydrogen gas sensors using molecular sieve for hydrogen fuel vehicle
• Biosensors for detecting glucose, urea, dopamine, etc.
• Chemical sensor system
Requirements for candidates
• Material science and engineering or Chemical engineering major preferred.
• Material analysis tool experience preferred: SEM, TEM, XRD, AFM…
• English for technical writing. (Best KNU scholarship will be provided for the applicant who got an Ielts scored 6.0+, Toeic 800+, or equivalent
• Good ethics and motivation (the most important thing)
Financial support
• 1 mil won/month for MS/Ph.D. combined (Annual increase) and 1.2 mil won/month for Ph.D. or higher depending on ability.
• Waived tuition fee but the new student has to pay the admission fee for graduate school (one time only).
Output requirement
• MS: 2 years with one international publication.
• Ph.D.: 3-5 years depends on publications and achievement with at least 3 international journal papers.
