Số ca Covid-19 toàn cầu tuần qua giảm 9% nhưng chỉ thực sự giảm ở 5/6 khu vực, tăng ở Tây Thái Bình Dương - nơi có các "điểm nóng" Nhật Bản, Hàn Quốc, Trung Quốc, Úc, Philippines.
Theo báo cáo dịch tễ Báo Người Lao Động vừa nhận được từ Tổ chức Y tế thế giới (WHO), tuần qua toàn cầu có 5,3 triệu ca Covid-19 mới, giảm 9% so với tuần trước. Số ca tử vong toàn cầu là 14.310 người, giảm 15% so với tuần trước.

Số ca giảm ở 5/6 khu vực trên bản đồ dịch tễ của WHO là châu Âu (-20%), châu Mỹ (-18%), Đông Nam Á (-17%), Đông Địa Trung Hải (-13%), châu Phi (-25%), nhưng tăng nhẹ ở Tây Thái Bình Dương (2%). Tây Thái Bình Dương là khu vực mà WHO xếp Việt Nam cũng như một số quốc gia gần biển thuộc Đông Nam Á trên bản đồ địa lý vào.
Tuy chỉ tăng 2% nhưng số ca ở Tây Thái Bình Dương vẫn rất cao: gần 2,8 triệu ca, chiếm 53% số ca toàn cầu. Nhật Bản vẫn là nước có số ca cao nhất khu vực và cũng là cao nhất thế giới với 1,476 triệu ca, tức chiếm hơn một nửa số ca cả khu vực. Theo sau là Hàn Quốc (884.373 ca) và Trung Quốc (172.424 ca).
